My Story

In October 2018, my world was turned completely upside down. I suffered an ischemic stroke, a blood clot blocked an artery in my brain, and everything changed in an instant.
I was just 41 years old.

Recovery

Before then, I had a long-standing career in the motor industry and a clear path ahead of me. But like so many stroke survivors, I had to let go of the work I once loved. The stroke left me partially sighted; I can only see out of my right eye. It also brought epilepsy into my life. I now live with these disabilities and like many survivors, I face anxiety and depression as part of my daily landscape.

Photography

Photography gives me purpose and peace. It’s how I reconnect with the world, sometimes even bumping into it (my depth perception isn’t great!). But through the lens, I found a new perspective, one that’s shaped not only by what I’ve lost, but by what I’ve gained.

Awareness

As a way of giving back, I proudly support Different Strokes, a UK charity dedicated to helping younger stroke survivors rebuild their lives. Their work is built on peer support and understanding. It has made a real difference for me, and for so many others.

In the UK, over 100,000 people suffer a stroke or mini stroke every year. While most are over the age of 65, one in four happen in younger people. That’s nearly 40,000 people a year including young children.

Previous Publications

Over the years my work and story have been featured in a number of publications, both in print and online. I’ve always valued the chance to share not only my photography, but also my journey of recovery after stroke — raising awareness about how common it is, and showing that it’s possible to get back on your feet.

If you’re a journalist, editor, or blogger looking for an interview or contribution, I’d be more than happy to chat. I’m always open to new opportunities to share my work and experiences with a wider audience."
